Fixed length belt conveyor refers to a belt conveyor whose length is fixed and does not change in the conveying process. It has the advantages of strong conveying capacity, high efficiency, safety and reliability, simple structure, etc., and is widely used in construction, chemical, electric power, metallurgy and other industries
Components of a fixed length belt conveyor
Fixed length belt machine is mainly composed of frame, belt, transmission device, tensioning device, roller and other parts. Among them, the belt is the core part of the fixed length belt machine, which undertakes the task of conveying materials
The working principle of a long-distance belt conveyor centers on a continuous flexible belt, the key component for material transport. A drive unit—comprising an electric motor, reducer, and drive pulley—provides power: the motor-driven drive pulley uses friction to set the belt in cyclic motion. Along the belt’s length, idlers support it, reducing friction, maintaining a trough shape (to avoid material spillage), and ensuring stability over long spans (often hundreds of meters). Bulk materials (e.g., coal, ore) are fed onto the belt’s upper side via a feeder; as the belt moves, materials are conveyed to the discharge point and unloaded there. A tensioning device (e.g., weight counterbalance) keeps proper belt tension to prevent slippage and compensate for elongation, while safety parts like emergency stops and misalignment detectors protect operation.
1. Belt conveyor length can be customized according to the need.
2. 0° – 30° installation inclination to suit the on-site conditions.
3. Belt width can be 500-2400mm to meet different particle size.
4. Belt conveyor cleaner is installed to clean the conveyor belt.
5. Special roller production line to produce superior roller, ensure smooth operation.
6. Conveyor cover can be provided to protect conveyor roller and conveying material.
7. Complete belt widths are optional to satisfy different capacity requirement
8. Safety switches such as pull cord switch, anti-deviating switch can be provided
9. Suitable to convey wide variety of powdery, granular, lumpy bulk materials and product bag
Belt Inspection & Care
Regularly check the conveyor belt for cracks, fraying, or abnormal wear—focus on splices and areas near pulleys. Remove debris stuck on the belt surface promptly to prevent friction damage. Adjust belt alignment if misalignment occurs, as this avoids edge wear and material spillage. Replace severely worn belts immediately to prevent sudden breakdowns.
Pulley & Idler Maintenance
Clean drive/return pulleys regularly to remove material buildup, which can cause belt slippage or uneven wear. Inspect idlers (carrying and return) for jamming or noisy operation—lubricate their bearings every 3–6 months (per manufacturer guidelines) and replace damaged idlers to ensure smooth belt support.
Tensioning & Drive System Checks
Monitor the tensioning device (e.g., counterweight or screw type) to maintain proper belt tension—avoid over-tensioning (which strains the belt) or under-tensioning (which causes slippage). Inspect the drive unit (motor, reducer) for abnormal noise or overheating; check and top up lubricants in the reducer as needed.
Safety Component Verification
Test emergency stop switches, belt misalignment detectors, and overload protectors monthly to ensure they trigger correctly. Replace faulty sensors or switches immediately, as these components are critical for preventing accidents during long-distance operation.
