Product Description
Product Description

The WGTS Series 50 t/h Sand Sifting Shaftless Drum Rotating Sieve is a rotary screening machine designed for continuous material classification, screening and grading. It is also known as a trommel screen or rotary drum sieve.

The equipment uses a rotating cylindrical drum to separate material according to particle size. Smaller particles pass through the screen apertures, while oversized material continues toward the end of the drum for separate discharge.

The main components include:

  1. Drive motor

  2. Reduction unit

  3. Cylindrical screening drum

  4. Screen frame

  5. Coupling device

  6. Supporting rack

  7. Sealing cover

Both shafted and shaftless drum structures are available for different material characteristics and screening requirements. The shaftless configuration removes the central shaft from the screening chamber, providing a less obstructed internal space for material turnover and movement.

Open and enclosed drum structures can also be selected. An enclosed configuration can be considered where the screening process requires better control of dust or scattered material.

The product is presented as a 50 t/h sand-sifting configuration. Actual processing capacity should be confirmed according to the feed material, bulk density, moisture, aperture size, drum dimensions and feeding conditions.

Available drum-screen models cover different drum lengths, segment quantities, aperture ranges and motor powers, allowing the equipment to be selected for different grading tasks.

Working Principle

The cylindrical screening drum is installed at an inclination on the supporting rack. The gearmotor is connected to the drum through a coupling device and drives the drum to rotate around its axis.

Material enters the drum from the feeding end. As the inclined drum rotates, the material is continuously lifted, turned and rolled across the internal screening surface.

The separation process takes place in three stages:

  1. Material feeding: The mixed material enters the upper end of the inclined drum.

  2. Particle-size separation: Particles smaller than the screen apertures pass through the screen and fall to the lower outlet.

  3. Oversize discharge: Material that cannot pass through the apertures continues moving along the drum and exits from the end outlet.

The repeated rolling and turnover of the material expose different particles to the screening surface. Material temporarily caught in an aperture may also be lifted and released by the rotating action, helping reduce screen blockage.

Where several screen segments are used, the drum can separate material progressively according to the selected aperture arrangement. Final segment quantity and aperture size should be determined by the required finished-material grades.

Advantages

1. Unobstructed Shaftless Structure

The shaftless configuration removes the central shaft from the drum interior. This provides more open space for material movement and reduces the obstruction that a central shaft may create during screening.

2. Continuous Particle-Size Classification

The inclined rotating drum continuously turns and advances the material. Undersized particles pass through the screen, while oversized particles move toward the end outlet, supporting continuous separation.

3. Reduced Screen Blockage

Material repeatedly rolls and falls inside the drum. This movement can release particles temporarily lodged in the screen openings and helps maintain the effective screening area.

4. Multiple Drum Sizes

Standard technical data covers drum diameters from 600 mm to 2500 mm and drum-length ranges from 2 m to 12 m, depending on the selected model.

5. Flexible Screen Segmentation

Depending on the model, the drum can be configured with one to six screen segments. This provides flexibility for single-stage screening or progressive material grading.

6. Wide Aperture Range

Available aperture ranges extend from 5–35 mm on the GTSφ600 model to 5–90 mm on the GTSφ2500 model. The required opening should be selected according to the target product size.

7. Adjustable Installation Inclination

The listed models provide an inclined-angle range of 0–7°. The final angle should be determined according to material flow, retention time and required screening performance.

8. Shafted or Shaftless Options

A shafted drum can be selected for suitable dense granular materials, while a shaftless drum provides a more open screening chamber for materials that require fewer internal obstructions.

9. Open or Enclosed Drum Design

The drum screen can be designed as an open or enclosed unit according to the process layout and material-handling conditions.

10. Straightforward Mechanical Structure

The machine consists mainly of a motor, reducer, drum, screen frame, coupling and supporting structure. This clear mechanical arrangement supports routine inspection of the main working components.

11. Configurable for Different Grading Requirements

Drum length, aperture size, number of screen segments and motor power vary by model, allowing the screening equipment to be matched to different materials and finished-product specifications.

Application

The rotary drum sieve can be configured for material screening in mining, aggregate, coal, fertilizer, compost, waste-processing and other bulk-material applications.

Sand Screening

The 50 t/h product configuration is intended for sand sifting and particle-size grading. The required aperture and drum configuration should be selected according to the feed grading, moisture and desired finished-sand size.

Coke, Raw Coal and Coal Gangue

The product can be used to classify suitable coke, raw coal and coal gangue according to particle size. Feed size, bulk density and impact conditions should be evaluated before model selection.

Mineral Ore Screening

The rotating drum can separate suitable mineral materials into undersized and oversized fractions. The screen aperture and drum dimensions should correspond to the required processing stage.

Limestone and Other Granular Materials

A shafted drum configuration is generally used for suitable dense granular materials such as sand, coal, limestone, fertilizer, compost and minerals.

Waste and Wood Chips

A shaftless drum configuration is generally used for suitable lower-density or bulky materials such as waste and wood chips because its internal screening space does not contain a central shaft.

Activated Carbon

Suitable activated-carbon materials can be graded using a shaftless drum structure. The aperture and drum speed should be selected according to the particle-size distribution and fragility of the material.

Fertilizer and Compost

Fertilizer and compost can be screened to separate finer material from oversized particles. The choice between shafted and shaftless construction depends on density, moisture, stickiness and material form.

Construction and Chemical Materials

Suitable construction and chemical bulk materials can also be evaluated for rotary screening. Material compatibility and required equipment construction should be confirmed before production.

The same material name does not automatically determine whether a shafted or shaftless drum is more suitable. Bulk density, moisture, particle shape, stickiness and the risk of material entanglement should be considered together.

FAQ

1. What is a shaftless drum rotating sieve?

A shaftless drum rotating sieve is a trommel screen without a central shaft inside the cylindrical screening chamber. The open internal space allows material to turn and move through the drum with less internal obstruction.

2. How does the machine separate sand?

Sand enters the inclined rotating drum and rolls across the screen surface. Particles smaller than the selected apertures fall through the screen, while oversized particles continue toward the end outlet.

3. Is the processing capacity always 50 t/h?

The product is presented as a 50 t/h configuration. Actual capacity depends on the material bulk density, moisture, particle-size distribution, aperture, drum size, inclination and feed uniformity. These conditions should be confirmed before equipment selection.

4. Which drum diameters are available?

The technical table covers models from GTSφ600 to GTSφ2500, corresponding to nominal drum diameters from 600 mm to 2500 mm.

5. What aperture sizes are available?

The listed aperture ranges extend from 5–35 mm to 5–90 mm, depending on the model. The final aperture should be selected according to the required finished-material size.
